Ed & Jean Monell's

Our January party and meeting was held at Ed and Jean Monell's home on Saturday, January 17th. Twenty four of us enjoyed the marvelous weather, great variety of good food and conversation. Dave and Liz DuBois drove their TD, Alex Waugh and Adriel Vagn came in his TF and Larry Helser and Bob and Stephanie Kampas drove their MGB's.

A few items were discussed in the official meeting portion of the afternoon. The full minutes can be found online under Officer Reports in the Members Area of the website.

Doug Murray was installed as President of the club. Thank you, Doug, for volunteering to help out.

One of the topics of discussion was the idea of giving an annual monetary donation to a charity of the clubs choosing. In discussing this idea the members present chose not to move forward with setting this up as an annual endowment. In the past, the club has donated money to a charity when a member has passed away as well as given one time donations as seen fit by the membership as the need has arisen. It was agreed that we continue these one-time donations as they arise. With that said, it was also decided that we give a one-time donation to the KOMO 4 News Problem Solvers for local flood relief. We also briefly discussed changing the annual Holiday Party Gift Exchange to a annual Holiday Charity Drive. The charity would be chosen by the hosts of the Holiday Party. This was received favorably and it was further suggested that we do a charity drive at other events as seen fit by the hosts, although this is not mandatory. Joan Good stated that the Anniversary Party will have a non-perishable food drive

And finally, it was also announced that the membership directory will no longer be mailed, but will be available online via the website (in the secured Members portion of the site). This will allow for updates and changes to be made quickly and uniformly as well as saving a tree or two. This is not up on the website as of yet, but will be announced with great fanfare when it is placed online.
