August 11-12, 2007

Crystal Mountain, WA
The sun was out and we were ready to play! The 2007 Mini GOF at Crystal Mountain got underway on August 11th, with 25 members in attendance – and two visitors. The car show began in the main parking lot at 10 am with 8 of the 10 MG’s present being shown. Driving their MG's were: Ed & Jean Monell - TD; Ben & Laura Prince - TF; Rob & Janet Roberson with Granddaughter Elizabeth - YT; MGA's - Paul & Joan Good and Guy & Carita Boswell; MGB's - Bob & Stephanie Kampas, Larry & Arla Hesler, David Chase & Beverly, Joe & Susan Colombo, and Matt Graham (Visitor).
After a leisurely lunch at the Alpine Inn (or picnicking on the hillside), we gathered to enjoy a true classic NW MG T Register treat – Phil Gainey’s Funkana! As always, Phil had us winding through tightly placed cones, driving blindfolded, collecting coins and performing various tasks to test the skills of the driver and the will of the navigator. Quite the spectacle for those observing… One big hint for successful funkana navigating - a blindfolded driver does not understand hand signals or the statement “go this way!” The only tears shed were those of onlookers from laughing so much. It was a blast and everyone. from the participants to the onlookers, were left asking the question… “When’s the next Funkana, Phil??”
Ben Prince treated us to a musical interlude during the social hour just before dinner in the hotel lobby (he is truly a man of many talents) while Phil Gainey entertained many with his yo-yo expertise. After filling up with snacks, wine, dinner (and more wine) and dessert at the Alpine Inn, we awarded the awards and drew for door prizes before retreating to our respective rooms for the night.
The morning dawned as people packed their cars and headed home. It was a good weekend – full of fun, great company – and lots of MGing!
A HUGE thank you to the following for their contributions:
